Session: GPS Investigations: An IoT Primer

September 29 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Presented By: Ross Worden & Anna Chung

Description:

GPS data is a rich source of information that goes beyond latitude and longitude. Coupled with other data sources common in mobile phones and IoT devices, the implications of GPS data for investigators are huge. We first cover the basics of GPS. Then we walk through some simple examples of how to use GPS data to draw meaningful conclusions based on real world incidents. We move into various free open-source software (FOSS) tools for GPS analysis and end with implications for the rising prevalence of IoT devices that collect GPS data.
